The White Veil

Encompassing a variety of businesses including retail, commercial and hospitality tenancies. The long elegant linear form of this building is beautifully established against the wider urban block. While a stand-out piece of architecture, it still retains the historic retail proportions at each end of the building, seamlessly fitting into the established street frontages.

The external white facade veil that covers the building fashions a perforated pattern which delicately nods to the design of the surrounding heritage buildings. The addition of laneways, passages and courtyards create a sense of exploration and discovery adding a new exciting twist to the bustling area.

Timeless Brick

Ponsonby Precinct V2 03
Residing in the heart of Ponsonby this building uses a timeless material, the red brick. However, the bricks in these buildings have been especially patterned and customised bringing a uniqueness whilst acknowledging the history of many original shops and public buildings in this area.

The cantilevered geometric forms making up the five levels draw architectural cues from the adjacent buildings ensuring they align contextually. Historic and contemporary, existing in harmony.

Shadow Play

Cleverly designed, this building connects various sections of the site unifying existing heritage with new buildings. A narrow two-storey office building floats on columns above the pedestrian and car parking level connecting and maximising the space above ground.

The building is shrouded in layers of perforated white and black cement sheets which control the visibility in and out of the retail and office spaces above. These perforated patterns are also prominent in the decoration of the surrounding heritage buildings, flawlessly embedding the building into it’s surroundings. What’s more, created with sustainability in mind, these sheets act to moderate sun and daylight,  regulating the building’s heat retention throughout the day.
