D72
72 Dominion Road
Mt Eden, Auckland

An example of architectural innovation, D72 seamlessly intertwines modern technologies with a rich historic foundation.
Merging history and modernity
Originally constructed in the 1960s, the building was brought new life by Patterson Architects who worked to renew the development whilst preserving many elements of the original structure; such as the walls, flooring systems and stairways.

Completed in 1996, D72 was outwardly recognised as an example of New Urbanism, earning the prestigious BOMA Award for Building Excellence in 1996. This memorable development not only revitalises but contributes to the diversity of the surrounding environment.

Distinctive in design
D72 stands out in more ways than one. The building’s most captivating feature is the woven aluminium façade, inspired by Pacific Island motifs. Wrapping around the exterior, this unique feature offers a sophisticated way to filter sunlight throughout the building, while also adding a striking visual pattern.
Conveniently located off Dominion Road, the building exists to serve its tenants, accommodating for ease and accessibility. At the heart of the iconic structure lies a spacious, oval-shaped courtyard that serves as the central hub for all those in the building.
D72 operates as a sustainable work space, with a variety of systems in place throughout the building that work to reduce the environmental impact but also enhance the overall tenant experience.
